Visits to our school site may be arranged by appointment with the Director to view the lessons or the classrooms and play facilities.  We enjoy the use of the full sized gymnasium, art center, and outdoor areas, including the basketball courts and grassy playgrounds.  The children in all grades walk to the pool next door for their twice weekly swimming lessons throughout the school year.

Meet the Director:

Ruth A. Rodgers is a dedicated Carden educator who began teaching the nationally acclaimed Carden method in 1982 at the Carden School of Camarillo http://www.carden.org/ in Camarillo, California.  She is committed to delivering the authentic Carden method of teaching developed by founder, Mae Carden, over sixty years ago.

Miss Rodgers had teaching experience at the secondary level subsequent to holding a state-wide position with the California Department of Education.  Her experience as the administrator of an 80-resident sheltered care facility included managing and working with a staff of 30 to maintain an exceptionally high level of beauty and quality in the full-service facility.

A career change in 1982 led her to Camarillo, California, where Miss Rodgers began her Carden teaching career.  Numerous success stories with her students inspired an enduring appreciation for Carden.

It was the same Carden techniques which she taught to fourth-graders which guided her study strategies in completing her doctoral degree at Oregon State University in 1995.  It was soon decided that the most important application of her teaching skills and enthusiasm for Carden would continue to be for children.

Daystar parents in Corvallis are eager to share the benefits their youngsters have gained – and are gaining – from the Carden lessons and standards.  Daystar families are apprised of issues in education and parenting which will support their education goals and awareness of children’s causes.

Miss Rodgers’ work includes an outreach to support local and distant children in accessing an education.  The Daystar Carden School is a contributor to several community groups.
