The
Carden philosophy is set forth in two publications authored by Mae Carden
and published by the Carden Educational Foundation, Inc.
Both are available through public libraries:

Carden
is designed to help the child develop his/her innate powers of analytical
and organized thinking. Courtesies
between child and teacher – and among the children – nurture self-worth
and reduce stress in the school experience.
Teachers are alerted to recognize the unlimited potential of each
child. It is thus the
‘stamina quotient’ rather than an ‘intelligence quotient’ which we
address.
The
Carden setting offers an atmosphere of dignity, calm, beauty, and order.
The teaching guides the child through stages of understanding –
rather than memorizing or copying. The
joy of learning comes forth through academic competence, independent
thinking, and problem solving.

Curriculum
Overview
Carden
curriculum materials, children’s workbooks, and teachers’ manuals
directing the lesson content and delivery are accessed through the Carden
Educational Foundation. The
Foundation regularly updates materials to keep pace with technological
developments and scientific discoveries.
A
visit to the Daystar school site includes reviewing a sampling of the
teaching materials showing the continuity from grade to grade.
